X-Rays
X-rays are necessary for dental maintenance and most procedures. These images allow the dentist to see inside the mouth and jaw to examine the bones, tissue, and teeth down deep.
The state-of-the-art x-ray equipment at Stines Family Dentistry allows for the safest imaging available with digital radiology. Digital scans are taken using approximately 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays require.
Both intraoral (inside the mouth) and extraoral (outside the mouth) images are obtained at least once per year and also when a problem arises. Pain or injury usually requires the dentist to see inside the jaw to determine the causes and best treatment plans.
Digital x-rays are not only safer but much quicker than traditional ones. The “film” does not have to be developed in a separate room. The images are sent directly to the computer for immediate viewing. This makes diagnosing problems easier and faster, leading to faster treatment and pain relief. The digital images are also more sophisticated, allowing the dentist to enlarge areas of concern for an even closer look.
Digital x-rays are the best way to monitor and diagnose problems below the gum line, in the jaw, and the roots of the teeth.
