Dental X-Rays
Digital dental imaging
Dental X-rays are an essential part of preventive dental care and many dental procedures. These images allow the dentist to examine areas below the surface of the teeth and gums, including the jawbone, tooth roots, and surrounding tissues.
At Stines Family Dentistry, we use state-of-the-art digital radiography to provide safe, accurate imaging. Digital X-rays require up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays, making them among the safest diagnostic tools in dentistry.
Both intraoral (inside the mouth) and extraoral (outside the mouth) X-rays are typically taken as part of routine dental care and whenever a specific concern arises. Dental pain, injury, or other symptoms may require imaging to help diagnose the cause and determine the most effective treatment plan.
Digital X-rays are not only safer but also faster and more efficient than traditional X-rays. Images are available immediately on a computer screen, eliminating the need for film development and allowing for quicker diagnosis and treatment. The advanced digital images can also be enlarged and enhanced, giving the dentist a more detailed view of areas of concern.
Digital dental X-rays are one of the most effective ways to monitor oral health and detect problems below the gumline, within the jawbone, and around the roots of the teeth. Most patients receive routine X-rays every 1 to 2 years, although the frequency may vary based on individual dental needs and risk factors.
